Welcome to the Trainers of School Psychologists Web site!

The Trainers of School Psychologists (TSP) organization is committed to supporting excellence in School Psychology training at all levels. This site is designed to give you information about TSP and its activities as well as information about how to join.

TSP Mission Statement

TSP is committed to innovation and excellence in graduate training programs for specialist and doctoral school psychologists. Our purpose is to foster high quality training in school psychology programs. We work toward this goal by examining current trends in graduate education programs, providing professional growth opportunities to school psychology faculty, facilitating communication with field based supervisors, and supporting legislative efforts that promote excellence in training.

TSP Activities

  • Annual Trainers’ Workshop - Each year, TSP hosts a workshop in conjunction with the NASP conference to which all members and faculty at member institutions are invited. This day long workshop provides trainers with an opportunity to exchange ideas and learn more about advances in the field of school psychology. Continuing education credits are earned through attendance at this meeting.
  • Trainers’ Forum - We publish a quarterly, peer-refereed journal, Trainers’ Forum, which features articles relevant to the preparation of school psychologists. Libraries and publishers can purchase subscriptions to Trainers’ Forum.
  • Annual award for Outstanding Contributions to Training – Each year, TSP accepts nominations for school psychologists for the Outstanding Contributions to Training award. This award is presented to school psychologists who throughout their careers have demonstrated exceptional contributions to training issues that merit special recognition. The award recipient is presented with the award at the TSP annual meeting held during the NASP convention.
  • Collaborative Networks - Through our ongoing collaboration with other national and international school psychology organizations (e.g., NASP, APA Division 16, International School Psychology Association, Society for the Study of School Psychology, Council for the Directors of School Psychology Programs), we are able to bring our members the latest information in our changing field.

Membership

Institutional membership in TSP is open to school psychology training programs. Individual memberships are available for faculty members from very small training programs (2 or fewer regular faculty). Associate memberships are available to others with an interest in school psychology training, such as students and field supervisors.

Becoming Involved

Individuals wishing to become more involved with TSP can volunteer to help in planning the annual workshop, submit an article to the Trainers’ Forum for review, or consider running for the Executive Board. We welcome your participation.
